Mechanical Engineer Co-op – New Devices

  • Designed and assembled fixtures for high tolerance electronic wearable hardware assembly and used them to build 50 prototypes  

  • Fabricated visual prototype models using 3D printed plastic, laser-cut shim stock for FPCs, and actual connectors to catch critical design issues

  • Led redesign of an outdated swimming simulation test rig to be robust, waterproof, intuitive, flexible, and look professional

  • Built an automated touch simulator to validate accuracy of force sensing resistor over extended use

  • Preformed complex tolerance analyses with GD&T, finite element analyses and created final part drawings for manufacturing

  • Designed multiple lens waterproof tests using a Bergeon tester, to ensure quality, and design to meet IP68 standards

  • Led the design and construction of a self-proposed motorized test rig to simulate of consumer product use, allowing for objective design comparison and optimization

  • Identified an automatable process and programmed an Access database filter to summarize thousands of call center notes - decreasing processing time by over 95% while increasing accuracy of valuable data for product development

  • Developed and performed 10+ performance test protocols (including stability, steam rate, steam/product temperature, power cycling, pressure, and clean-ability tests) and analyzed and communicated data for rapid engineering design decisions
